The Making Of A Documentary  - Summer 2009
Word gets around about RIT!  Nick Leone, Clay Randel and Bryce Phillips, students in the Film and Television Department at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), spent the summer filming a short documentary about RIT and me.

At first, I was a little hesitant about being filmed - who likes to be on camera?  Not me!  But when I asked why they chose this story over others, they said they felt it could have the most impact on people and could make a difference in people's lives.  I have to agree, so the cameras rolled.

Left to right:  Nick Leone, majoring in cinematography, from St. Clair Shores, Michigan; Clay Randel, studying writing, directing and acting, from Atlanta, Georgia; Bryce Phillips, majoring in directing, from Arlington, Texas.

Filming began on July 11 and consisted of a series of interviews with me, my husband Alex and other people who, like me, believe they owe their lives to RIT.  All of us were asked to discuss our experience with lymphoma and RIT - and why we feel it has been underutilized.

Alex and I also "had" to go sailing one day to show our normal healthy lives!

I'm so impressed by how hard Bryce, Clay and Nick worked to grasp a subject as complex as RIT.  With the passion they brought to this project, they'll no doubt become famous early in their careers!

The film was completed August 26.  Watch for it to be released when all copyright permissions are obtained. .
